Representatives of the World Bank in Kazakhstan and JSC "Electric power and energy saving development Institute" visited facilities in the cities of Aksai and Oral that have been modernized to improve energy efficiency. Together with the Akimat of the Burlinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region, representatives visited the secondary school No. 2 in Aksai and checked the work of street lighting on the streets of Friendship of Peoples, Nauryz-1, Nauryz-2. On the streets with a total length of more than 6 km, new supports with 188 LED energy-saving lamps were installed, a cable was laid in the trench and the "smart" software of ASUNO "SANAU LIGHT"was introduced. Modern lighting will not only improve safety on the streets, but also save up to 75 thousand kWh of electricity per year, and, as monitoring has shown, reduce CO2 emissions by 308 tons per year.

In Oral, with the participation of the leadership of the city Department of Education, two modernized secondary schools No. 21 and No. 22 were presented. Now children and staff of these social facilities will be engaged in comfortable rooms with improved heating, water supply and lighting. Repair measures, including the replacement of windows, doors, lamps, the installation of an automated heating point, thermoregulators and heat-reflecting screens, will reduce the average for each of the schools to 70 tons of CO2 emissions per year, and save 120 thousand kWh of electricity and heat per year. in monetary terms, the annual savings will amount to more than 1 million tenge per year for each school.

"Kazakhstan can significantly benefit from the introduction of energy-efficient consumption approaches, so it is necessary to promote an energy efficiency policy to attract investment, develop cooperation with the financial sector. Even today, we see that the efficient use of energy affects the savings of utility costs, improves the state of the environment, and stimulates the market of energy-efficient materials. Demonstrating the potential benefits of efficient energy consumption allows us to increase the potential of all stakeholders, which is what this Project is aimed at," said Ato Brown, Permanent Representative of the World Bank in Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the Project "Improving energy Efficiency in Kazakhstan", 85 social facilities (kindergartens, schools and hospitals, street lighting) were selected throughout Kazakhstan. The project is aimed at improving energy efficiency in public and social institutions and creating favorable conditions for sustainable energy efficiency financing. "According to the results of energy monitoring, the average annual savings at one facility is 30% for thermal energy and from 15% for electric energy. The planned savings after the modernization of all 85 objects of the Project are projected to be up to 1 million USD per year, "Yerbulat Buksukbayev, Head of the Project Implementation Group at the JSC "Electric power and energy saving development Institute", commented on the preliminary results of the Project. The project "Improving the energy efficiency of Kazakhstan" is being implemented with grant funds from the Swiss government and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in the amount of US $ 21.76 million, directed through a Trust Fund administered by the World Bank. Co-financing from the participating institutions, municipal services and akimats amounts to about 1.3 million US dollars.

The four-year Project (2015-2019) is implemented by JJSC "Electric power and energy saving development Institute" under the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
