Project implementation “Increase of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan”

 

Today ended a two-day visit of Country Manager of the World Bank for Kazakhstan Jean-François Marteau to the Project "Increase of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan", which is implemented by JSC "Electric power and energy saving development institute" in the cities of Petropavl and Kokshetau.

One of the objects is the North Kazakhstan sport residential College of the Olympic Reserve, where studied the well-known Kazakh athlete Alexander Vinokurov . In the building within the framework of the project, the roof and walls were insulated, the heating point was automated, the lighting was replaced with an economical one for more comfortable living and education of children.

In the Residential Lyceum “Bilim-Innovation” in Kokshetau, the regional residential-school No. 3 for gifted children and in the correctional school No. 1 for children with special needs, the necessary works were also carried out to modernize the buildings. As a result, there are 10-12% savings in heating and electricity costs.

World Bank Resident Representative Jean-François Marteau particularly noted the private initiative of individual contractors and the akimat(Mayor’s office) to finance additional work. Thanks to the joint efforts, the buildings now meet all the requirements for energy efficiency.

Also, at the end of the trip, Serik Turchekenov, Deputy Chairman of the JSC "EEDI", noted that the project "Increase of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan" demonstrates the savings in energy costs and the financial viability of measures to improve energy efficiency. Thanks to the support of the World Bank, 80 social objects in various regions have been successfully modernized.

The project "Increase of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan" consists of two components. First of all, the work is aimed at the preparation and implementation of demonstration projects in state and socially significant facilities.

According to the specialists of JSC "Electric power and energy saving development institute", grants and a chance of switching to a more energy-efficient level of work were given to schools, kindergartens and hospitals, whose buildings require modernization. The selection of state institutions was conducted on a competitive basis.
