In this year 17 projects are included in the Energy Efficiency Map of Kazakhstan

In this year 17 projects are included in the Energy Efficiency Map of Kazakhstan. At the end of these projects, the expected annual savings will amount to 1.4 billion tenge. The total number of projects in the Energy Efficiency Map is 134 in the amount of 65 billion tenge.

New projects of the Energy Efficiency Map: modernization of street lighting in the city of Oskemen, Semey, as well as in other regions; installation of an automated heating station and installation of energy-saving lamps; modernization and trust management of the outdoor lighting system of the city of Taraz; modernization and maintenance of the heating system of the Aral District Archive and the Kazaly Central District Hospital with outpatient-polyclinic services in the village of Aiteke bi; Aral Industrial and Technical College and the regional special sanatorium residential school No. 2 in the city of Aral; Zhanakorgan Agrarian and Technical College and the administrative building of the Mayor's office of Zhanakorgan district; Zhanakorgan central district hospital with outpatient-polyclinic services in the village of Zhanakorgan and Zhanakorgan district archive; Shieli industrial and Agricultural College and the regional children's rehabilitation center in the village of Shieli; Shieli Central District Hospital with outpatient-polyclinic services in the village of Shieli and Shieli district archive; as well as modernization and maintenance of the heating system of the special medical supply base in the city of Kyzylorda.

The Energy Efficiency Map is a single republican list of projects in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency improvement that are already ready for implementation through the Energy service contracts (ESCO) mechanism.

The energy service contract is the implementation by a specialized energy service company of a set of works on the introduction of energy-saving technologies at the customer's enterprise at the expense of the funds raised by the energy service company (own, credit), with the reimbursement of its own expenses and obtaining financial profit from the actually achieved energy savings. The adoption of energy-saving technologies is a issue of survival in the market of each individual enterprise, its competitiveness and prospects for development. And the most acceptable course of action, in the absence of own funds, is modernization using an energy service contract.

It should be noted that the main fundamental difference between the energy service contract and other types of financing of energy-saving measures is that the company does not need to invest its own funds. That is, the company gets the opportunity to purchase new equipment and implement energy-efficient technologies, excluding financial costs. In the case of an energy service contract, most of the financial risks takes the energy service company. All project implementation costs are recovered from the resulting energy savings.

In addition, within the framework of the World Bank project "Increase of energy efficiency in Kazakhstan", 5 socially significant facilities were modernized. Among them: a kindergarten in the  Oskemen, an interdistrict antituberculous hospital and a regional tuberculosis sanatorium in Uralsk, as well as schools in the Karaganda and Kyzylorda regions.
